FOSSIL RESEARCH

Fossils are full of death, cold and bleak and helpless, but I balance this sadness with the warmth and softness of wool felt to create a calm state of mind in the viewer and an interesting perspective on the objects around them.

 

By creating and describing the world of felt, the artist Liu Zhuoyi is creating a metaphor for the real world. It makes the viewer interested and want to explore and understand their stories.

 

Stories are a part of life and I use them to tell the truth. Although nothing that happens is real, I make the audience look at their surroundings and their environment again by narrating the stories in the felt world. It allows the audience to distil the truth from my stories.
